Miami Heat beat Atlanta Hawks 108-93

Spanish Robredo beat Safin in Tennis Rome

In tennis, Spanish 13th-seed Tommy Robredo staged a brave comeback at the rain-disrupted Rome Masters on Tuesday. He charged into the second round by beating Marat Safin 2-6, 7-6, 6-2.

Former world number one Safin kept his focus despite the rain. He led 6-2 in the first set, but then began to make more mistakes as the match wore on.


Robredo leads the tour with 17 wins on clay this year, and he began to dominate this matchup in the second set, rallying for a 2-6, 7-6, 6-2 victory. He will face Philipp Kohlschreiber in round two.

Independiente beat Sao Paulo 2-1 in Copa Libertadores clash

Independiente Medellin of Colombia defeated Brazilian Sao Paulo in their Copa Libertadores clash on Wednesday.

It took the Colombian hosts just fifteen minutes before they took the lead. A superb lofted pass allowed Diego Cabrera to get behind the Sao Paulo defense and cut an angled shot across Joao Bosco.


On the half hour mark, Independiente found themselves two up, luck playing a bigger part in the goal this time round. Juan Cuadrado crossed from the right wing, Cabrera layed the ball back first time and Rafael Castillo converted.


The visitors grabbed a goal back six minutes before the interval. Andre Lima played a one-two with Dagoberto before firing a shot into the corner. Despite the defeat, Sao Paulo remain top of the group while Independiente move to second place.

NBA: Lakers beat Jazz 125-112

The Los Angeles Lakers earned their 65th victory, beating the Utah Jazz 125-112. The Lakers will open the playoffs this weekend against the Jazz.

The Lakers' Andrew Bynum scored 22 points in his best effort since returning from injury. Pau Gasol added 20 points and nine rebounds. Lamar Odom had 16 points. Deron Williams collected 25 points and 13 assists for the Jazz, and reserve Andrei Kirilenko added 20 points.


The Lakers closed their regular season with their 6th straight home court win. They've already clinched the top seed in the West to secure home-court advantage throughout the conference finals.

AC Milan beat Lecce 2-0

Football results from the Italian Serie A, where a lacklustre AC Milan beat relegation threatened Lecce thanks to two injury-time goals. And a second placed Juventus were held to a draw by Chievo.

In that first match, Philippe Senderos and Ronaldinho both claimed the first goal after getting their heads to a free kick after 90 minutes.


And two minutes later, Filippo Inzaghi headed a second goal for the Rossoneri. 2-0 the final score, as AC Milan snatched the win in the last minutes.
