LONDON, May 5 (Xinhua) -- Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Rio Ferdinand is fit to play in Manchester United's Champions League semi-final second leg against Arsenal on Monday.
Ferguson had feared Ferdinand would miss Tuesday's clash at the Emirates Stadium after he suffered damage to his ribs and a bruised lung during United's 1-0 first leg victory at Old Trafford last week.
Ferdinand was left coughing up blood in the United dressing room following a collision with United keeper Edwin Van der Sar and missed Saturday's win over Middlesbrough.
But Ferdinand took part in the session at United's Carrington training ground and Ferguson confirmed he will be fit to face Arsene Wenger's men.
Ferguson also revealed Patrice Evra is fit after the France full-back limped off at the Riverside with a leg injury.
Evra did not train in the open part of United's session on Monday but Ferguson said that was only to avoid any recurrence of the problem.
