BEIJING, April 26 (Xinhua) -- Defending champion Guangdong Dongguan Bank beat Xinjiang Guanghui 100-81 to take a 2-0 lead in Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) finals on Sunday.
Zhu Fangyu scored 26 points to lead the reigning champion to the win and a 2-0 series advantage.
Zhu, who was 9-for-18, was also 5-for-5 at the free-throwing line and once his teammates joined in, the Guangdong overwhelmed Xinjiang 31-16 in the fourth quarter after a stalemate in three quarters and moved within two games of seizing the title.
Smush Parker had 20 points and seven assists and Jason Dixon added 20 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for Guangdong, who will visit Xinjiang in Game 3 on Wednesday night.
Juan Mendez had a match-high 30 points and 13 rebounds for Xinjiang, who played the entire 48 minutes, as well as Xu Guochong and Myron Allen.
Guangdong staggered Xinjiang with 31 points in the final quarter and also completed the knockout with defense, holding Xinjiang to just 16 points.
Xinjiang hurt themselves by going 15-39 in the field shooting and was outrebounded 47-35 during the whole match.
Xinjiang only got seven players to compete in the match while all 12 Guangdong players got time to play.
The two teams will meet again in Xinjiang's home court on Wednesday to continue the best-of-seven series and it will be the first time for Xinjiang to hold a CBA finals match. No CBA teams had won a champion after trailing 3-0.
