The low-budget drama from India, "Slumdog Millionaire" swept Britain's BAFTA film awards on Sunday, winning best film, best director and five other categories. This latest recognition gives it another boost ahead of the Oscars later this month.

The BAFTA awards ceremony was held at London's Royal Opera House in Covent Garden.
Prior to its strong showing in London, Slumdog Millionaire triumphed at the Golden Globes last month with four honors including best drama.
In their acceptance speeches, Slumdog producer Chris Colsen and director Danny Boyle thanked the people of Mumbai.
Danny Boyle, the director of " Slumdog Millionaire" said, "Thank you very much. We are hugely indebted, all of us, everybody you've honoured and those you've nominated tonight to the people of Mumbai, especially the actors Anil and Irrfan and all the young actors who helped us Dev and Frieda and Martur, Ayush, Azha (Azharuddin) and Rubina, Tunay, Tanvee and Ashitash."
