This is wheat land in the village of Yin. And a farmers is discussing the water crisis with her neighbors. There is now no more water left in the recently dug well. And her field 300 meters away desperately needs water. But she can't do anything apart from clearing some weeds.
Farmer Yin Junqin said, "This water shortage is quite dangerous for us farmers. We are unlikely to have a good harvest, and it's possible we won't have any harvest at all/ I'm really sad to see my crops turn yellow due to lack of water."
Making small gift boxes is the only work the couple can find for the time being. It usually takes them 3 days to make one box that brings them only 3 yuan to add to their income.
Farmer Yin Guangyong said, "With this drought, we will have some difficulties in our life in the year ahead. We've got to do some small jobs like this to make money and to tide over the hardships."
The drought situation in the village won't ease soon. But the couple hopes more rainfall will come so as to minimize their losses.
