Rail travel peak continues

Railway stations and trains across China continue to be crowded with the Ministry of Railways estimating 5.4 million rail pasengers trips on Tuesday.

Nearly 900 extra trains are in service to ease the pressure, and big stations like Chengdu and Chongqing have opened emergency control centers for the convenience of passengers. Hengyang railway station in Hunan province has opened 80 more windows to sell tickets to migrant workers.



The travel peak is expected to last until the Chinese Lantern Festival on February 9th.
