Musical Aida comes to China

The musical Aida is scheduled to run at the Beizhan Theater in Beijing from November 19th to 23rd. The story revolves around the romance between an Ethiopian princess and a military commander. Verdi made it into an opera, which has become an enduring classic since its premiere in 1871.

In the story, the warrior Radames struggles to choose between his love for an Ethiopian princess or his loyalty to the Pharaoh. Complicating matters, Radames is loved by the Pharaoh's daughter Amneris, although he doesn't return her feelings.

The musical version was created by Elton John and Tim Rice in 1998.
