A Chinese business delegation in London has signed agreements worth two billion US dollars with British firms. Britain is the last stop on the Chinese purchasing mission's four-nation tour in Europe, after Germany, Switzerland and Spain. The tour is seen as a significant move for China, to stave off protectionism in the wake of the global financial crisis.

Of the 11 deals signed, the agreement between Hainan Airlines and Rolls-Royce is the largest, totaling a little over one billion US dollars. Rolls-Royce is set to provide 20 engines for the Airbus 330 of the Hong Kong fleet, in addition to service support.
