China's top political advisor says the national advisory body will have to contribute to decisions on major national and global challenges at its annual session next week.

At Friday's meeting of the Standing Committee of National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the Chairman of CPPCC National Committee -- Jia Qinglin -- noted this year will be crucial for China's development.

He says CPPCC members will conduct research and offer effective opinions and proposals to the Communist Party of China and government for their decision-making.

The Second Session of the 11th CPPCC National Committee is scheduled to open on March 3rd.
