"24 city" to hit big screen
Director Jia Zhangke's latest film "24 City" will hit big screens across China on March the 6th.
"24 City" is set in a state-owned factory during the transitional period of China's modernization drive from 1958 to the present. Leading actresses Lv Liping, Joan Chan and Zhao Tao each play a factory worker representing three generations.
The film has been slated in competition for the upcoming Cannes Film Festival. Over 30 countries will release this movie, which is poised to be one of the most important Chinese-language films of the year.
Jia Zhangke, one of the so-called sixth generation of Chinese film directors, says his film reflects the impact of China's urbanization on ordinary people.
