Barcelona through to semi of Copa del Rey
Barcelona have booked their place in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey: They beat Espanyol 3-2 on Thursday. And Sevilla beat Valencia 2-1 to claim the other spot in the semi-finals.
In the 34th minute, the Espanyol goalkeeper failed to clear a ball, and Bojan Krkic was on hand to score the opening goal. Two minutes after the break, Krkic chipped Xavi's cross to score his second of the match. Barca continued their scoring momentum, Gerare Pique dipped a header into the back of the net in the 55th minute, putting Barca 3-0 ahead. But two minutes later, Espanyol's Ferran Corominas' powerful shot inched its way past the Barca keeper to take the score to 3-1.
Ten minutes later, Callejon cut through the Barcelona defence and drilled the ball into the goal to bring it up 3-2. But too bad for Espanyol: the score remained that way until the final whistle.
Valencia get eliminated
In another clash between Sevilla and Valencia: Valencia scored the opening goal. Carlos Marchena planted this header only seven minutes into the game.
Frederic Kanoute headed a free-kick from Ndri Romaric into the back of the net to equalize the score for Sevilla. In 90th minute, Aquivaldo Mosquera touched Renato's corner and Sebastien Squillaci was on hand to put it in. 2-1 for Sevilla.
