The turn of the year sees a flurry of new music emerge from showbiz circles. While veterans make comebacks to secure their popularity, rising stars bring fresh elan. On Countdown this week, and on the last day of the Lunar New Year,we present you with the hottest music videos hitting the airwaves.
NO.5 In Love with the East
Once much sought-after, Taiwan singer Sky Ng is in danger of alienating his audience with a lack of album releases in recent years. He's making a new year comeback with a two-CD album titled "Collection". The album features nineteen bestsellers including old-time classics "How to Say Love" and "Special Love For the Special You" plus new compositions such as the title song "Collection", folk tune "Sharing Love" and "In Love with the East".
NO.4 Hello Microphone
A French major out of Tamkang University, Kwai Lunmei has been grabbing attention as a Taiwan actress on the rise. Blue Gate Crossing introduced Kwai to the big screen, and with the film Secret in 2007 she garnered wider acclaim thanks to her cooperation with Taiwan singer Jay Chow. That year also saw director Hsui Hark casting Kwai as a punk rocker in All About Women. The film also marked Kwai's debut as the singer in its interlude: "Hello Microphone".
NO.3 Only You
The end of a twenty-year marriage brought torment for Harlem Yu, but the Taiwan singer is now ready to return to the spotlight and indulge himself for a while. "Harlem's Night Club--Lady's Night" recently hit the shelves. It includes eleven renditions of old favorites including Stephanie Sun's "Encounter", Faye Wong's "I Would", Anita Mei's "Intimate Lovers" and Xiao Lizhu's "Only You".
NO.2 Take me to the Star
Take Me to the Stars is Taiwan singer Shin's second album since signing with Music Nation Wingman Limited. Emotion resonated through Shin's previous albums and a delightful input "Take me to the Star" continues that theme. Other numbers including "Not Ok" and "Undistinguished Belief" reflect a change in style from heavy metal to happy rock and roll.
NO.1 Heart Beat
Lee Hom Wang released his latest album Heart Beat last month. Wang demonstrates a new style with the focus being on electric guitar. He uses it for the majority of tracks, and the album in general fits the rock genre.
