The exhibit halls at the Beijing Capital Museum are decorated with traditionally festive New Year scenes.
The themed exhibition, Good Luck in the Year of Ox, focuses on folk arts related with the Chinese lunar new year.
Folk artists have been invited here to do on-the spot performances, displaying their traditional and unique skills in making toys, kites, silk knots and paper cuts.
A visitor said, "Usually, we only see the end-product, but here we can see the whole production process. Visiting museums is a quite new but good way to spend the holiday. I hope we can see more exhibitions like this in future Spring Festivals."
Another said, "I think the exhibit is interesting. I hope more folk arts can be included in displays like this. It's important for the preservation of our traditions."
Part of exhibition looks at this year's zodiac animal, the Ox. More than 100 pieces of ox-shaped or ox-related works are on display, including a good many sculptures and paintings.
People said, "I like the painting of the ox over there very much. The ox is important in Chinese history. Chinese people, from ancient times to now, all love and respect this kind of animal."
"The ox is my zodiac animal. So, I was very interested in this exhibition. It helps me to know more about the animal."
About 4-thousand visitors are showing up to visit the New Year exhibition daily. Admission is free, but you'll need to make reservations before the exhibition ends on February 10th.
