RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- Cruzeiro striker Carlinhos Bala said on Saturday that he received an offer from Botafogo and intended to close the deal.
Bala has yet to break his ties with Cruzeiro before Botafogo becomes the fourth team he has played for.
He also played for Santa Cruz and Sport which he helped to win the 2008 Brazilian Cup.
"I have already accepted the invitation that they extended to me. Ever since the first time we spoke, I demonstrated my interest in playing for them, " said Bala. "Botafogo is a great team with a great tradition. In order to close the deal, Botafogo needs to negotiate with my current team, Cruzeiro."
Bala claimed he had received offers from other teams, but preferred to play for Botafogo.
"I did receive multiple offers, but Botafogo was quicker than the others. If things don't work out, I will have to return to Cruzeiro for 2009," he added.
As the 2008 Brazilian soccer championship came to an end, Botafogo has hired three new players including forwards Diego and Reinaldo, along with midfielder Fahel.
