It is a typical Beijing courtyard house. A horizontal board inscribed by Deng Xiaoping, the late leader of the Communist Party of China, hangs above the door. Entering the yard, a bust of Mei Lanfang welcomes the visitors. The cozy museum is a memorial to the Peking Opera star.
The museum preserves the original look of Mei's former residence. The decor and furniture in the living room, study and bedroom are arranged according to his preference. A lantern, a couple of lacquer chairs and several sprays of plum blossoms.. these reveal the late artists' characteristics, such as elegance and diligence.
An exhibition room in the museum displays pictures and materials which are the records of his art, and his private and social life. In another hall, visitors enjoy videos of Mei Lanfang's exquisite performances, beautiful singing and elegant demeanor.
