"The Great Journey", a recording of China's development since 1978, has generated a strong buzz among Chinese audiences. The seven episode prime-time show aired on CCTV 1 from December 11th.
Zhao Shaofeng, a history student at Beijing Normal University, watched the show on his school network with fellow classmates. Born in the 1980s, Zhao found the show echoed his own life experiences.
Zhao Shaofeng, student of Beijing Normal University said "I think the policy will take Chinese people further along the path to prosperity. I believe our country has a rosy future."
Experts believe that the positive reviews stem from the program's combination of ideas and television art.
Zhang Tongdao, Professor of Beijing Normal University said "The TV documentary had great artistic merit. It's a fine production with meticulous care paid to both the pictures and audio."
The documentary was well-received, with numerous positive blog postings on the internet. Many found the show to be more of a patriotic education than a historical documentation. Viewers said they appreciated the development of the country and found themselves promising to be a trustworthy generation willing to take on more responsibilities.
