The two leaders tackled the Egyptian efforts to restore a truce between Israel and the Hamas-led Palestinian militant groups in the Gaza Strip.
The six-month truce, brokered by Egypt, expired last Friday after efforts failed to extend it for another six months.
Mubarak and Abbas also discussed the ongoing efforts to resume an inter-Palestinian dialogue to reach national reconciliation.
