China will take a stable economy and multilateral exchanges as the orientation of diplomatic policies for the year ahead.

At the final press conference of the year, Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said the focus will be on closer ties with both developed and developing countries, and a constructive role in multilateral exchanges on world affairs.
He said China remains committed to joint efforts with the international community to maintain world peace and regional stability, for common global development. Qin also said the key task is to maintain fast, stable economic growth and work for a better international environment to combat the global financial crisis.
