Italian Super Cup to be played in Birds Nest in 2009

The Italian Super Cup, will be played in Beijing's Bird's Nest Stadium. The Serie A champions and the Italian Cup winners will compete for the honor on August 8.

It's exactly a year after the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics. The Bird's Nest is the fourth overseas venue for the Super Cup after Washington in 1993, Tripoli in 2002 and New York in 2003.

The first edition of Super Cup was held in 1922, but the second champions were not crowned until 1936. AS Roma and Juventus lead the way with nine wins. Roma has been to the most finals 15 times. And they are the current holder, as they beat Serie A champs Inter Milan three years running. The 2009-2010 Serie A season will start on August 23.
