Both sides were flying high at 26 points as Rennes' coach Guy Lacombe pitted his wits against former club Paris Saint-Germain. Home advantage belonged to Rennes and they would have taken the lead in the 25th minute, except for the brilliance of PSG goalkeeper Mickael Landreau. Mickael Pagis was left wondering how Landreau got his fingertips on the ball as his long-range effort cannoned back off the crossbar.//But Landreau was forced to pick the ball out of the net in the final minute of the first half. Substitute Cheyrou, who had come on in place of the injured Stephane M'Bia, let fly from distance and found the bottom corner. Rennes closed out a 1-0 win to extend its unbeaten run to 14 matches.
