After looking back at the changes to China in the first twelve years after 1978, we now turn to the 1990s, a decade when the country's culture industry stepped into golden times.

As the country showed its first TV series for children, a certain magic little dragon boy became a star to the generation born in the 1980s.

Though his looks were strange and his life unusual, his courage and pure heart were reason enough for millions of children to sit down in front of the TV.

The start of the 1990s saw television flood into families' homes across the country, dominating people's spare time at home. The TV was no longer dominated exclusively with political news and more and more channels began offering choices for different audiences.
